Description
Length:134cm(52.76in) Width:60cm(23.62in)This painting depicts a goshawk diving from the sky with outstretched wings. Vigorous brushwork and graded washes render detailed feather markings, sharp talons and intense downward gaze, conveying formidable power. Below, reeds sway beside two swimming fish. The background is lightly washed with pale ink to evoke vast misty waters. Gao Jianfu, founder of the Lingnan School, integrated Chinese traditional painting and western realism. He excelled at bird-and-flower subjects. Strong contrast between motion and stillness animates the composition: the hawk ready to strike against the leisurely fish. Original old mounting.
