This complete set contains forty independent landscape paintings, each individually mounted. The works adopt Zhang Daqian’s iconic splashed-color technique, using mineral pigments such as azurite blue and malachite green. The ink and color blend freely, forming magnificent and dreamy mountain forms. Traditional brush lines depict rocks, pines, waterfalls and dwellings, with tiny figures, bridges and boats scattered across the scenes. It combines western color expression with the artistic conception of classical Chinese landscape painting. Each piece bears inscriptions and red seals, depicting cloud-wreathed peaks, mountain waterfalls and reclusive scenery with ethereal charm. The whole set is preserved in an elegant yellow woven brocade box with an inscribed label. It represents a fine complete set of his splashed-color landscape art.
