A beautiful example of 19th-century English transferware, this oversized Wedgwood ironstone platter brings together rich blue-and-white decoration, intricate patternwork and more than a century of history.

Produced in England in the Edinburg pattern, the platter features a romantic architectural scene with grand British castles framed by lush florals and songbirds. An elaborate geometric border surrounds the composition, adding another layer of detail to this striking piece of antique English pottery.

Generously sized at nearly 17 inches long, the platter makes a beautiful centerpiece for a collected table or a statement piece displayed on a sideboard, hutch or wall. Its classic blue-and-white palette feels equally at home in English country, traditional, grandmillennial or layered coastal interiors.

Dating to the mid-to-late 19th century, the platter bears the Wedgwood mark on the reverse, along with a single "E" associated with the Edinburg pattern.

Measures approximately 16.75" long * 14" wide * 1.5" high.

In very good antique condition, with age-related crazing, primarily on the reverse, and patina along the front and edges. Some areas of surface roughness are present from age and use. No chips noted. The natural wear and character are consistent with the platter's considerable age.
