The bodies of these Basalt lamps are crafted from black Basalt, a fine grained, unglazed stoneware fabricated by Josiah Wedgwood himself back in the 1700's, using crushed volcanic rock. Used as urns, for years, they became lamps once electrictry was developed. Height varies with the moveable rod on top but I have chosen to use these at the height of 29" high and the wide and depth of 13" each (from the lampshades attached). These urns/lamps have stunning engravings on them, I have taken photos of them for your viewing pleasure. I was able to purchase these most desireable lamps from an estate in .Boise, ID
