Description
At Turtle & Crane, we turn the past into stunning decor for today. This matching pair of mid-century Hollywood Regency clamshell bowls is cast in heavy base metal, with a fluted, scalloped form resting on three integrated scroll feet. The inside of each bowl is finished in faux tortoiseshell: translucent amber, crimson, and deep espresso glazes layered over a reflective gold-leaf ground, so the color glows from within the way old pique shell does. An ornate silver-pewter rim carries floral and scroll motifs around the edge. The finish is newly painted and hand finished in our Atelier, and sealed with a clear, high-gloss lacquer.
The tortoiseshell is a painted finish, and no animal materials were used. Each bowl is 13.75" wide. Each works as a centerpiece, a mantel accent, or a catchall on a dresser or an entry table, and the pair suits Hollywood Regency, Neoclassical, and Palm Beach Regency rooms, in the style of Guzzini, Maison Jansen, and Tony Duquette.
