A handsome large-scale vintage wood picture frame featuring a richly layered gold and deep blue finish with carved decorative detailing and a cream linen liner.

The substantial solid wood frame is constructed with multiple stepped moldings, including a dramatic deep blue/blue-black band surrounded by warm antiqued gold. Hand-carved and incised geometric and foliate-inspired details run around the inner and outer borders, giving the frame wonderful texture and architectural presence. The cream-colored linen liner provides a soft contrast to the darker wood and gilded finish.

The frame has an appealing aged surface with variations in the gold finish, scattered rubbing, small nicks, scratches and areas of wear consistent with age and prior use. The linen liner also shows some age-related discoloration and wear. These characteristics contribute to its authentic vintage appearance. Please review the detailed photographs, which form an important part of the condition description.

A particularly attractive empty frame for a large oil painting, portrait, landscape, print or other artwork. Its combination of antiqued gold, deep blue and neutral cream works beautifully in Traditional, European-inspired, English Country, Old World and eclectic interiors.
