Victorian Figural Winged Cherub Silverplate Napkin Ring by Wilcox Silver Plate Co., Late 19th Century
Dimensions:
2.75" H * 3" Diameter

This finely detailed Victorian figural napkin ring was produced in the late 19th century by the Wilcox Silver Plate Company, a prominent American manufacturer celebrated for its sculptural tablewares and ornamental silverplate. The piece is conceived as a compact figural composition, combining functional design with high-relief decoration.

The napkin ring is supported by a winged cherub (putto) rendered in confident three-dimensional form, leaning forward in a lively, animated pose. The cherub rests against a raised circular ring embellished with engraved floral and foliate motifs, while the oval base is richly ornamented with scrolling acanthus leaves and blossoms in deep relief. The overall design reflects the Victorian fascination with classical revival imagery, sentiment, and allegory, translated into domestic luxury.

Both decorative and collectible, this napkin ring functions equally well as a table accent, cabinet object, or addition to a curated silver or Victorian decorative arts collection.
A charming and increasingly scarce example of American Victorian figural silverplate.
