This is a figure-landscape hanging-scroll painting on paper by Xie Zhiliu, with vintage original mounting. It depicts rolling layered mountains washed with cyan-green mineral pigments, rendered in delicate brush-work. Lush plants grow among hills, while stream-beach rocks and reeds occupy the foreground. Two travellers on horseback are painted upon distant ridge-tops, embodying the "mountain journey" theme. Poetic calligraphic inscription with two red artist-seals sits at upper-left corner, and one leisure seal is stamped in lower-right. The painting features elegant colouring, moist brush-and-ink, and a spacious artistic conception, representing his classic travelling-theme landscape work.
