Zheng Xiaoxu (1860-1938), Running Script, Wen Xin Carved Dragon, Excerpted Lines, Hanging Scroll. Height: 77 cm (30.31 in); Width: 44 cm (17.32 in). Ink on patterned decorative paper, original silk mounting. Drawing on the styles of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, the brushwork is forceful and solid with open-angled character structures, fully representing Zheng Xiaoxu's vigorous calligraphic style. This work excerpts text discussing ancient yue-fu poems from *The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons*. The composition flows coherently with well-spaced layout. Signed "Xiao-xu", sealed with two red artist seals. Fine hidden-pattern paper and well-preserved mounting. It is a fine example of Zheng Xiaoxu's running-script calligraphy for artistic appreciation and collection.
