Fu Baoshi (1904-1965), Seclusion in Streams and Mountains, Hanging Scroll. Length: 93.5 cm (36.81 in); Width: 23 cm (9.06 in). *Landscape of Secluded Mountain Stream*, hanging scroll, ink on silk, by Fu Baoshi. This vertical composition depicts a Jiangnan landscape rendered in ink wash. Distant mountain peaks are lightly washed and softened with mist, with tiny trees atop the summit. Midground cliffs show rich variation of dark and pale ink. Foreground riverbank features gnarled old trees and a small bridge crossing the stream, with village houses faintly visible in the distance, creating a quiet hermitage scene. Vertical running-script inscription on the right reads: *Dinghai intercalary month, Fu Baoshi of Xinyu, at Jinling lecture studio*, with two red seals beneath. The painting employs moist ink washes to depict swirling mist, balancing solid form and empty space, presenting ethereal poetic mood. Original silk-brocade mounting, of fine artistic and collectible value.
