Pan Tianshou (1897-1971), Eagle, Hanging Scroll. Length: 87.5 cm (34.45 in); Width: 45.5 cm (17.91 in). *Majestic Eagle* hanging scroll, colour-on-paper, by Pan Tianshou. A powerful eagle stands atop steep rock, its wings rendered with bold, heavy-ink brush-strokes of profound vigour. The eagle turns its head left, with sharp eyes, strong beak and fierce talons, fully displaying the imposing bearing of raptor. Sparse ink strokes depict crags and weeds, setting off desolate and vigorous atmosphere. Running-script inscription "Jiachen Chuchun Shoushi" on upper-right, stamped with the artist's red seal. Concise and grand composition with forceful brushwork, representing the spirit of free-hand Chinese flower-and-bird painting. Original hanging-scroll mounting, paper bears natural age-related foxing, well-preserved, with high artistic appreciation and collectible value.
