Pu Ru (1896-1963), 'Sailing on the River Tower', Scroll. Length: 99 cm (38.98 in); Width: 49 cm (19.29 in). This is a classic ink landscape painting by Pu Ru depicting autumn twilight by the river. In the foreground, pines grow on rocky banks; a scholar leans on rocks gazing afar. A riverside pavilion stands beside the water, with several fishing boats floating on the river. Distant rolling mountains are shrouded in light ink mist, creating a harmonious interplay of solid and void. The brushwork is refined and forceful, with a spacious composition full of poetic charm, embodying the elegant and ethereal spirit of literati landscape painting. In original old mounting, paper bears natural age patina.
