Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732), Scroll, Qing Dynasty. Length: 105 cm (41.34 in); Width: 32 cm (12.60 in). This painting depicts layered lofty mountains with a waterfall cascading down the cliff. Twisted ancient pines feature gnarled trunks. Red-crowned cranes soar in the sky, with a red sun rising above distant peaks. Rocks are textured with ink washes in a forceful manner. Pine needles are rendered meticulously, and cranes are drawn vividly. The aged silk support bears a fine patina. The layered composition unites landscape and pine-crane motifs, symbolizing longevity and enduring prosperity. In original old mounting, the silk retains natural age toning.
