Chinese, first quarter 19th century. A Chinese Export porcelain jug or pitcher painted by hand in the Blue Willow pattern, the cylindrical pitcher having bulbous center with moulded spout and applied metal loop handle, the porcelain decorated in blue underglaze on tondo with a pagoda structure at center set within a landscape by the water with willow trees, boats, small figures, and foliage throughout, the pitcher mouth with a wide brocade border. Unmarked. Approximate height 8.125", width spout to handle 8". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.

Condition

Remnants of applied porcelain handle visible surrounding current handle (likely a later replacement). A few scattered glazing imperfections throughout. Two separation seams on spout, however, area appears to be stable. Under black light examination, little to no areas with restoration. Underside of rim with light wear commensurate with age and light shelf use. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
