Description
• One of just 970 built in 2001
• Single ownership and 28,500 km from new
• Full BMW service history
• Offered with hardtop and stand
The BMW Z8 is one of the most recognisable and collectible sports cars of the last 20 years. After bursting onto the automotive scene at the 1997 Tokyo Auto Show and as a “Bond Car” in 1999’s blockbuster The World Is Not Enough, the spiritual successor to the legendary BMW 507 saw worldwide production of just 5,703 examples between 1999 and 2003.
Offering more than just exclusivity, the Z8 was also exceptionally well engineered with a lightweight aluminium space frame chassis and body panels. This advanced design was paired with the M5-derived 400-hp V-8 engine, and the Z8 bested even the Ferrari 360 Modena in contemporary acceleration tests. The exterior styling, a tour de force of Bauhaus minimalism by Henrik Fisker, helped to create an overall package that caused such a sensation when it was launched, and early demand dramatically outstripped supply.
An Italian-delivery example, this car was purchased new by a multiple BMW Works touring car champion. Presented today in exceptional condition, it comes with a full BMW service history and importantly, is accompanied by its desirable original factory hardtop and stand. In total, the car has covered only 28,500 km from new.
Perhaps BMW’s most iconic creation of the 21st century, the Z8 has already proven to be a modern-day collectible, and this example is outstanding in all regards.
