Description
• Ferrari Classiche certified
• A late-production catalytic converter, adjustable suspension example
• Belt service in May 2016; fuel tanks replaced in late 2017
• Offered with a highly desirable original luggage set
Truly one of the most iconic cars of its era, the F40 took not only Ferrari, but the automotive industry in general into the next stratosphere in terms of performance, setting the gold standard of which all other supercars would be measured for years to come, making it the must-have car of its era and one of Ferrari’s all-time greatest automobiles.
Delivered new to Germany in June of 1992, this European-specification F40 is a late-production example and therefore is fitted with both catalytic converters and an adjustable suspension. Remaining in German ownership since new, its first two owners were Horst Sonnendorfer and Roland Berkhaus, respectively. It was purchased by its current owner from Berkhaus, who owned it for a few years before selling the car to a friend, before realizing the error of his ways and subsequently purchasing the F40 back.
It is perfectly understandable why the F40 would have pulled at its owner’s heartstrings and why he had to have it back. One of Ferrari’s most incredible cars when it was introduced and still a very exciting car to drive and enjoy today, it was the very first car to crack the fabled 200 mph mark, hitting a top speed of 201.4 mph. Acceleration to reach that point was equally as incredible, with 100 km/h being achieved from a standstill in 4.1 seconds. This was made possible through Ferrari’s fanatical attention to the F40’s weight, and thanks to their prolific use of carbon fibre, the F40 tipped the scales at 1,100 kg dry. At its heart was a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that produced a monstrous 478 hp.
The car presents wonderfully throughout and has been repainted just once in its life, and is confirmed to still be wearing its original front clamshell and doors. It is important to note that the car has last received a belt service in May of 2016, an annual service in September of 2017 and most recently has had its fuel tanks and catalytic converters replaced in December of 2017, leaving it fully ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner. In addition to its original owner’s manuals and warranty card, two sets of keys, and a tool kit the F40 is offered with a highly desirable set of luggage.
A performance icon and an industry benchmark, the F40 is a triumph of engineering for Ferrari and a car that is truly brilliant to behold in every right. This particular example checks all the right boxes and following recent services, is ready to be used and enjoyed as Enzo intended.

Addendum: We are pleased to announce that this F40 was recently certified by Ferrari Classiche. The certification binder will be forwarded to the winning bidder once received. Furthermore, the car is not equipped with its original gearbox, but rather a correct replacement unit that was fitted early in its life.
