After graduating from a doctoral program at Oxford University, Faraday's mother, Eloise Hawking, gives him this journal. Within are the clues that Faraday leaves for himself to help him find his constant to which his consciousness can anchor to while it slips through time. It is this journal that convinces Eloise that Daniel is indeed her son from the future and that she must carry out his plan to detonate the hydrogen bomb.
