LONDON – Dreweatts will sell the contents of Rawdon Hall, home of the same family for more than 425 years, in Town & Country: The Collections of Charles Plante and Rawdon Hall, scheduled for Tuesday, May 10. The historic house in Yorkshire contains an extensive collection of fine art, including family portraits, furniture and works of art, many of which have never been on the market before. MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Skinner Auctioneers presented two European auctions in April that drew competitive bidding from enthusiastic participants worldwide and generated high prices across multiple categories. On Thursday, April 14, Skinner offered a single-owner live auction titled Luxe Living: The Bostonians, showcasing a curated collection of furniture and decorative arts from the home of a prominent Boston couple. The online European Decor & Design Auction, which ran from April 12 – April 22, proved yet again that the market for silver, particularly pieces of sterling silver holloware from well-known makers such as Tiffany and Gorham, remains strong.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – The National Corvette Museum in Kentucky says it’s adding an education gallery that will feature artifacts and interactive technology to share the brand’s story. Construction of the 2,000-square-foot gallery is set to begin in late May, museum officials said. The gallery is scheduled to open late this year or in early 2023 at the Bowling Green-based museum.

Navajo serapes: centuries of Native tradition

NEW YORK — The centuries-long weaving tradition practiced by Native American people in the Southwest is as diverse and compelling as the indigenous groups who make these textiles. Navajo serapes, in particular, present a range of geometric designs, from serrated zigzags and diamonds as well as crosses, which are said to represent the mythical Spider Woman.
