ALAMEDA, Calif. – In April, Michaan’s will conduct three auctions. The monthly Gallery Auction on Friday, April 14 will be followed by two new specialty sales on Monday, April 17. The first is a Collectibles Auction that will start at 10 am Pacific time, and the second is a Prints and Multiples Auction that opens at 1 pm Pacific time. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Among the lots that found new homes were a set of Israeli ship’s binoculars and a pair of bronze cat sculptures that stood nearly seven feet tall, as well as American fine art, several diamond rings, and a variety of Asian carvings and ceramics.

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Michaan Auctions’ monthly Gallery Auction that was held on Saturday, August 20 was a thorough success. The sale featured an extensive selection of 20th-century American art, including two pieces by Henrietta Berk (American, 1919-1990), a mural by Warren Chase Merritt (American, 1897-1968) and an array of works by Haig Patigian (American and Armenian, 1876-1950). In the Asian art arena, a painted scroll attributed to Zhang Daqian (Chinese, 1899-1983) triumphed, achieving $23,370.

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Michaan’s July 16 Gallery Auction proved to be one of the auction house’s most successful sales of the year, with a total estimated value above $400,000. The strong results were driven by several works by German-American artist Peter Max (b. 1937-), a wide selection of Chinese Jun ware and a double eagle gold coin pendant necklace.
