NEW YORK — The Guggenheim Museum will present Young Picasso in Paris, an intimate exhibition comprising a total of 10 paintings and works on paper executed during Pablo Picasso’s introduction to the French capital. Young Picasso in Paris will open on May 12 and continue through August 6.

Dealers shocked by closure of London’s Olympia and Masterpiece summer fairs

LONDON – The 2023 edition of Masterpiece London and the summer Art & Antiques Fair Olympia have both been cancelled, leaving a crater in the British capital’s summer season. Dealers are now scrambling to find alternative selling strategies as they face a compressed calendar of fairs.

MIAMI — Tropic Bound, South Florida’s first international biennial artists’ book fair, arrives in February in the Miami Design District. This event will showcase the unique artistic genre known as artists’ books. These complex creations bridge the worlds of art, craft and literature, telling stories — sometimes without words — and represent a broad variety of cultural traditions. Featuring more than 60 exhibitors from the United States, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean, Europe and Egypt, Tropic Bound will take place Feb. 16-19 at the rooftop garden at Paradise Plaza. The fair is free and open to the public.

NEW YORK – The Winter Show announces highlights, special presentations, and programming for its 69th edition at the Park Avenue Armory. The show, taking place January 20–29, brings together 68 exhibitors – leading experts in the fine and decorative arts – presenting objects that range from ancient times to present day. As the US’s leading antiques and fine art fair, the Winter Show features an outstanding and global mix of exhibitors from Europe, South America and the US, including new, returning and longtime participants, offering museum-quality works. All ticket proceeds from the fair and benefit events, including the Opening Night Party on January 19 and Young Collectors Night on January 26, directly fund East Side House Settlement.

Palm Beach Show returns for 20th edition Feb. 16-21

PALM BEACH, Fla. – The 20th Annual Palm Beach Show will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center during Presidents’ Day Weekend, February 16-21. It features both domestic and international exhibitors of fine art, jewelry, silver, textiles, porcelain, Asian art, and more, ranging in date from ancient times to the 20th century. A number of changes have been made to elevate the exhibitor and patron experience. For example, sculptor Gino Miles (b. 1952-) will create an installation for the entrances of the 2023 Palm Beach Show using his large-scale sculptures titled Arches. As patrons enter the show, they will be immersed into a monumentally sized fabricated stainless steel and bronze visual spanning more than 10ft in height.

Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair returns Jan. 12-14 after pandemic hiatus

LONDON – The Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair returns to London’s West End and the five-star London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6JP from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 January 2023. Previously held annually until interrupted by the pandemic, this ninth edition is back to starting the year in style once again. The fair boasts a good mix of disciplines courtesy of members of The British Antique Dealers’ Association and LAPADA The Association of Art & Antiques Dealers, who have signed up to exhibit.  The fair has a magnificent international following including interior designers, collectors and, with its central location, lures overseas visitors to London, as well as people seeking unique pieces for their interiors.

NEW YORK — Now on view as part of the holiday season, Barkitecture is a new series of holiday decor installations on Madison Avenue created by students from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in partnership with the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID). A total of 14 undergraduate students from SVA’s BFA Design: 3D Design program created their thematic takes on the classic dog house structure with found objects and rich imaginations under the direction of artist, 3D designer and program Chair Kevin T. O’Callaghan. The students’ dog house holiday art installations are on view until January 3, 2023 at Madison Avenue between East 61st and 77th streets.
