Touching letter (with cover) written by Confederate soldier William H. Mims of the 2nd Georgia Infantry while confined at Point Lookout prison in Maryland.. In it, Mims makes a request to Major AG Bradley that he be allowed to visit an officer at “Hammond General Hospital.” This officer was a “fellow townsman” of his, Mims explains, and might be able to relate news of Mims’ friends and family.
Inscribed across the over is “Approved for one hour,” and Major AG Bradley’s signature.
