Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Southeastern Arizona, Anasazi / Ancestral Pueblo, Greater Mogollon, Greater Salado, Upper Gila (Highland Salado), ca. 1300 to 1450 CE. A lovely hand-coiled pottery vessel resting on a rounded but stable base, the bulbous body with broad shoulder and waisted neck with a thick rim. The surface is slipped in a warm orange hue on the lower half and over painted with intriguing and bold black and white linear and stepped decoration, an iconography that suggests natural and architectural forms. The upper shoulder and neck have a white ground with a thicker black patterning. Size: 7" Diameter x 5" H (17.8 cm x 12.7 cm)
