SCHERMERHORN POTTERY, RICHMOND, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, designated three-gallon capacity, bold ovoid form with flanged rounded-top rim, triple incised shoulder rings. Brushed cobalt "3" above two dashes and a curved line, possibly an "S" or a "J" to each side, additional cobalt at handle terminals. John P. Schermerhorn (1788-1850), Richmond Factory, Henrico County, VA. 1817-1850. 14" H, 7" D rim.
