Nicely framed original note written by Daniel Webster, which includes his signature. Written in ink, Webster writes an unknown recipient concerning an endorsement of a political candidate. Webster was an American lawyer and statesman who represented both Massachusetts and New Hampshire in Congress and served as Secretary of State under Presidents Harrison, Fillmore, and Tyler. He was one of the most prominent lawyers in the United States, arguing more than 200 cases before the Supreme Court. A legendary orator, Webster is perhaps best known for an 1850 speech in which he argued for a comprise on the issue of slavery to prevent a Civil War. The note itself is in good condition, with original fold lines and some staining. It was professionally mounted/framed and is ready for display.
