Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A remarkable hand-built and highly burnished pottery vessel with a round but stable base, a wide hip, a dramatic carination, a sloping shoulder, a squat neck, and a flared rim, all enveloped in a vibrant red slip. The shoulder is adorned by 2 sets of 7 vertical incised striations lying across from each other and 2 lines of 3 raised dots, which also lie across from one another. Size: 11.9" Diameter x 8.7" H (30.2 cm x 22.1 cm)
