Pair of Confederate estate inventories, each listing numerous enslaved people and their ages. 3 manuscript items, separations at folds and other wear, signed by various appraisers and clerks. Mississippi and Alabama, 1861 and 1862 Inventory of the estate of Martin Hackler. 45 x 7½ inches on 4 conjoined sheets, with docketing on verso; separations at folds, tape repairs. Lists 21 named enslaved people and their ages, followed by 13 named mules. Hinds County, MS, 5 March 1861 (accompanied by a partly printed order of appraisement dated 4 March 1861).
Inventory of the estate of Elizabeth Vaughn. 3 manuscript pages, 12 x 8 inches, plus docketing on final page; separations at folds, 5-inch tape repair. Names 22 "Negro slaves" and their ages. "Amy aged about 55 years" is listed with "Ginny her child" aged 13; Cynthia aged 20 is listed with "Frances her child," aged 1. Wilcox County, AL, 21 July 1862.
