Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved stone axe god figure, of characteristically abstract form, standing atop a pair of string-cut legs. Shallow string-cut grooves define the arms and waistline while additional grooves constitute the mouth, eyes, and neckline.
