Description
A large architectural plaster sculpture with a central image of a lion's head surrounded by griffins and dragons within circles flanked by leaves, and having a rope twist border and original bronze finish. Dated 1923 in bottom right corner. Originally sold at a Sotheby's sale titled "Historic Plaster Casts From Metropolitan Museum of Art" February 28, 2006. sale N01876. Measures 31"H x 36"W x 2" thick. Losses, mostly around border, but overall good condition.
