A check for subscription payment from American illustrator Maxfield Parrish to the magazine, "Literary Digest". Check no. 1686, Windsor, VT, December 10, 1924, to be paid to the order of "The Literary Digest" a sum of four dollars, signed on the payee line as "Maxfield Parrish". The bank's "PAID" stamp slightly intersects with the "P" of Parrish's last name but does not affect the signature. Light soiling and creasing throughout. Expected cancellation stamps verso. Overall, very good plus. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA and graded NM-MT 8. Measuring 8.375" x 3", slabbed to the overall size of 5.5" x 12.5".
Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the 20th century. With a career spanning fifty years, he is most known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealized neo-classical imagery.
