Description
Inscribed "EAGE + 16 + 1761 + MAR + 15 / GRAFTON : M : 15 / 1761 + SAMUEL + FLETCH / ER, HIS + HORN + 1 + 5/0" (identified with Samuel Fletcher, 1744-1814, of Grafton, Mass., and Windham Co., Vt., served as sergeant in Mass. militia at Battle of Bunker Hill, commanded a company at Ticonderoga, Battle of Bennington, was a Brigadier General in Vermont militia at end of war) engraved all around with three house facades, a wooded enclosure, and a forest scene with three turkeys; cow horn, with wooden butt plate secured with brads and centering a wire staple, 8 5/8 in. L. With a custom-made iron stand.

The spout portion of the horn cut off at the step-down. Wear associated with use in the field and age. The wooden butt plate heavily weathered
