Two CDVs, New Hampshire BBGs: John Coughlin, CMOH, and Joseph M. Clough
Clough, Joseph Messer (1828-1919). Clough enlisted as 1st Lieut. of the 1st NH Infy. in April 1861. He mustered out after his 3 months and was commissioned into the 4th NH. He was discharged after 3 years and commissioned into F&S of the 18th NH. He mustered out in July 1865. Clough earned promotions to Captain and Lieut. Col. He also was commissioned Colonel, but not mustered. His brevet BG came with the omnibus awards of March 1865. Cdv with backmark of Benjamin Carr, Concord, NH. Verso with both ink and pencil ID's.
Coughlin, John (1837-1912). Coughlin waited a bit, enlisting in September 1862. He was commissioned into F&S of the 10th NH Infy. He was wounded at Port Walthall in May 1864, then again in July at Petersburg. He mustered out in June 1865 at Richmond. He received a Colonelcy and Brig. Gen. by brevet in April 1865. Coughlin was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on 5.9.64 at Swift Creek, VA ("distinguished gallantry in action"). Cdv with backmark of Eaton, Manchester, NH.

Coughlin with minor scuffing of upper margin. Both with scattered foxing, Clough a bit heavier than Coughlin.
