Description
Circa 1870. Brass butt cap is stamped "J.H. Terhune/Maker" (shop was on Canal St. New York City) in two lines. Ferrules are also of brass, and the reel seat appears to be white oak. The butt is ash, the mid greenheart, and the tips are lancewood, one being 8 inches short and having a replacement agate tip top. Grip is black corded. Pictured by Kerr, as previously cited (p289). Packed in a green canvas bag, most likely not original but vintage. From the Thomas C. Kerr collection of Historic 19th century fishing rods.
