Description
The first handwritten letter is on Delaware House stationery in Lackawaxen, PA and is six pages in length. He writes in length of his walk and goes into great detail of his encounter with nature. He then goes on to tell her how he met up with Cedar and Red and of a story of them throwing stones at large carp [most likely in the Delaware River]. He does manage a short jab in the letter with "Last summer on June 26 it was so cold as Dolly's heart was once. (long ago, thank the Lord)"; Signed "Pearl" with a drawing of a flower and comes with envelope addressed to Lina E. Roth. The second letter is written from Avalon and is three pages in length. The core of the letter is of Romer coming to Avalon and how he arrived with "$50 or $60 worth of fishing tackle that he has stolen? He tried to lie out of it. But he fell down because he did not realize the value of it. The he confessed he took a little." He goes on to tell her about Romer "He does not seem to realize that he has done wrong.". He ends the letter with describing a marlin that Romer caught of 354 pounds and that it was cut up before it could be photographed and Romer was sore of it. Signed in a hard to read "Doc" and comes with envelope. Both letters in Very Good plus condition with usual folds.
