Description
STRASBURG, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA POLYCHROME-DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE SPITTOON, lead-, copper-, and manganese-glazed over a slip wash, low form with rounded shoulder, cut-out drain hole, and pronounced squared foot. Attributed to the pottery of Jacob Eberly (1830-1908) and Daniel Letcher Eberly (1859-1919), Strasburg, VA. 1886-1903. 3" H, 6 7/8" D base.
Good condition with only one small spot (1/4" x 3/4") of patched glaze exfoliation, horizontal hairline off drain hole, shallow chip to edge of foot, less than normal glaze wear.

Provenance: From a Rockingham Co., VA estate collection started in the 1950s.
