Description
STAMPED "B. C. MILBURN", ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE DIMINUTIVE JAR, salt-glazed, "1/2" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with a slight shoulder, collared neck, squared rim, single incised shoulder ring, and straight cut-off lines to underside. Brushed cobalt decoration comprising a horizontal flower with leaves and long stem on front centering the stamp, and two horizontal tulips to reverse. Benedict Calvert Milburn (1805-1867), Wilkes Street pottery, Alexandria, VA. 1833-1866. 7 3/4" H, 4 3/4" D rim.
Undamaged except for a minute flake to rim and a few flakes to underside of base.
