Description
Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Huari (Wari) culture, ca. 700 to 1000 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with a flat, stable base and convex walls that flare to a broad rim which opens to a deep basin. The exterior walls are decorated with two large rectangular panels that each feature a stylized depiction of a condor or another bird of prey, delineated in a polychrome palette of russet red, warm tan, dove grey, black, and white. A wonderful example from the Huari (Wari) peoples of ancient Peru! Size: 7.25" W x 3.75" H (18.4 cm x 9.5 cm)
