Our History Profile
Gil and Karen Griggs of Signature House cite both personal and professional ethics as the key to their success in auction houses.
The Griggs say that they are “both Christians who strive to produce the best while keeping a high integrity.” And, based on the success they have experienced in the crowded field of auctions, they must be doing something right.
Signature House publishes a catalog for their mail, phone, email and fax auctions every four months or so, offering a broad range of autograph material including Presidents, Civil War, Entertainment, Sports, Literature, Science & Technology, Colonial, Military, Aviators and Explorers as well as Judeo-Christian and Antiquities and collectibles related to each genre.
Gil is a former actor who frequently appeared on television during the 1960’s in Playhouse 90, GE Theatre, the Red Skelton Show, Steve Allen Show and Hallmark Hall of Fame. He is an avid Civil War enthusiast and credits himself with being well versed in sports.
Karen writes and edits the catalog which enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry. Each of the catalog features about 1600 lots with prices ranging from $10 - $100,000.
The Signature House web site features full catalog of each of its auctions. Gil Griggs sees the Internet becoming a major part of the company’s future. “The Internet is an ongoing and growing part of Signature House.” In fact, their June 2000 auction was among the first to utilize Livebid at Amazon.com.
