Lancaster Single Owner Collection
Alderfer Auction is featuring a Lancaster, PA Single Owner Collection sale on April 16th. The sale highlights an extensive inventory of vintage toys, regional textiles, primitives, collectibles, and silver, with a primary focus on Steiff animals and antique quilts. The toy selection is led by a massive variety of Steiff mohair animals, including early 20th-century teddy bears with shoe-button eyes, poodles, rabbits, and hand puppets. Notable large-scale items include a 99-inch studio giraffe and an 85-inch studio ostrich. These are joined by collector dolls from Maggie Iacono and R. John Wright, as well as Hertzig & Co. Snowbabies, vintage paper pulp holiday decorations for Halloween and Christmas, and German putz and papier-mache figurines. The textile category offers a significant collection of antique quilts from Lancaster and York Counties. Featured patterns include the Sawtooth Diamond, LeMoyne Star, Lone Star, and Irish Chain, dating from the mid-19th to early 20th centuries. Asian works include, an Imperial tribute fan, Chinese porcelain, snuff bottles, alongside a selection of Japanese inro and fine cloisonne by makers such as Namikawa Yasuyuki and Miwa Tomisaburo. Fine art, includes oil paintings by Walter Emerson Baum, Tatiana M. Alexeeva, Philip Richardson Whitney, Robert Seufert, and Ray Overpeck. Novelty and collectible items include a 1957 Corvette, a Messerschmidt KR200, a National cash register, Brepsomy model cars, Mills slot machine, and Franklin Mint silver. Decorative arts standouts are a Jaeger-LaCoultre Marina Atmos clock and bronze sculptures. Furniture and rugs are represented as well, with a Renaissance Revival court cupboard, Martin Schreiner tall case clock, and a Persian Kashan carpet. Autographs of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Sculptor Daniel Chester French, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, General Winfield Scott, General Benjamin Butler, Bing Crosby, military leaders and others.
