Alderfer Auction's March 18th Mid-Century Modern sale brings together Scandinavian and American furniture, Italian Postmodern seating, and decorative arts. The sale is headlined by a strong grouping of Finn Juhl designs executed by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, alongside Phillip Lloyd Powell studio furniture including sideboards, a display cabinet, and a screen, with many of these pieces coming from the collection of noted dealer Reese Palley. American and Danish Modern style is further represented by a Kent Coffey "Perspecta" bedroom suite, a Poul Cadovius "Royal System" modular wall unit, and a Scan Coll teak bedroom group. Italian Postmodern offerings include seating by Gamma Arredamenti and Giancarlo Piretti's "Plia" folding chairs, with additional American studio work by Bucks County artisans Carter Handcrafted Furniture. Decorative highlights include Richard Barr for Laurel mushroom lamps, Curtis Jere sculpture, an Atmos clock, and a selection of ceramics, alongside artwork and sculpture.

Our upcoming March Fine Art Auction will feature a strong selection of American paintings, including works by Edward Redfield, Fern I. Coppedge, Daniel Garber, John Folinsbee, George William Sotter, Walter E. Baum, and William Francis Taylor. These artists, closely associated with the New Hope School and Pennsylvania Impressionism, continue to draw serious collector interest and institutional attention. A rare Qing dynasty imperial tribute fan from the Qianlong period (1736-1795), produced in the renowned Guangzhou workshops will also be offered.
