Freeman's

Introducing Freeman’s—America’s Auction House since 1805
The prestige of Freeman’s, Cowan’s, and Hindman—now united under one timeless name. This November, the company will move forward simply as Freeman’s, honoring its historic legacy. The rebrand coincides with the 220th anniversary of its founding in November 1805, when Tristram B. Freeman was appointed auctioneer for the City of Philadelphia.
For more than two centuries, Freeman’s has connected people with extraordinary objects. This next chapter brings together the firm’s combined history, experience, and national reach under one trusted name. Though the brand has evolved, the commitment to clients remains unchanged: to provide exceptional service and expertise at every step.

Freeman’s April 29 auction of Impressionist and Modern Art is led by the landmark rediscovery of Europa by Josef Šíma, a 1927 near-twin canvas to the version held at the Moravian Gallery in Brno. Offered from the distinguished Ingersoll Family Collection of Philadelphia, the painting is supported by fully documented provenance, firmly anchoring it within Šíma’s Parisian milieu of the late 1920s. One of the artist’s most enigmatic and powerful works, Europa signals an ambitious pictorial language poised between Surrealism and poetic abstraction, that is bound to attract global interest. The sale is further distinguished by works from prominent Russian artists, including Pavel Tchelitchew, Grigory Gluckmann, and Nikolai Fechin, the latter represented by a newly resurfaced portrait from the W.S. Stimmel collection, one of his foremost American patrons. Additional highlights include works on paper by Jean Dufy, Raoul Dufy, Fernand Léger, Françoise Gilot and Paul Signac, rounding out yet another curated and compelling sale to be held in New York.Bidder Reviews for Freeman's (1,743)

Very pleased with Cincinnati location.
The Cincinnati location is top drawer. The young lady I dealt with was extremely sharp, answered a couple of questions I had and was able to take my payment and arrange shipping all during the same phone call. She even spotted a discrepancy in my mailing address, that she corrected then and there. I will definitely be bidding with them in the future.

High quality antique painting, even better than described!
While I waited for it to arrive, I was sure I had paid too much, but when it got here, I felt like I got a great deal! Painting was well worth the money. I would definitely buy from Freeman's again. Thank you!
