Modern Art,Tribal Art & 20th C. Furniture
On June 9, Native will hold its 31st auction, featuring, as usual, a selection of tribal art, design, and modern and contemporary art. This time, a strong selection of 19th- and 20th-century art will be offered, drawn from various private collections. Among the highlights are a harbor view by Johan Barthold Jongkind, a marble sculpture by George Minne, and, for post-war artists, a large canvas by Pierre Alechinsky from 1957, a newly discovered painting by Jean Fautrier, a significant body of work by Antoine Mortier, and a jointly created painting by Englebert Van Anderlecht and the poet Jean Dypr?au, to name just a few. In the tribal section, highlights include a Guro mask attributed to the Master of Bouafle, a Luba cup-bearer from the collection of Gustave Van Geluwe, and a Nkisi N?konde Kongo figure with a base by Kichiz? Inagaki. In the design section, we highlight a few names: Ren? Lalique, Alberto Giacometti, Jules Wabbes, Poul Kj?rholm, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, and Maarten Van Severen, among others. This diverse collection is complemented by an exceptional silver table service from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Dayak and proto-Dayak sculptures from Borneo, and two hanakago by contemporary basketry masters Iizuka Shokansai and Fujinuma Noboru.Past Auctions from Native
