Antiques, Silver & Collectables Day Two

Due to the unprecedented success of our first combined Antiques, Silver and Collectables sale in February, the May sale has expanded across two days. Day Two commences at lot 700 and promises more interesting lots. We begin with a Lalique ?Bacchantes? vase, and the Ceramics section then features a number of privately-consigned single-owner collections, most notably Doulton, Royal Worcester, and Royal Crown Derby. IN the Oriental section, lot 848 us a large reticulated bottle vase, and lot 862 is a fine quality dragon bowl with collection label of Major Soames, whose ceramics were dispersed by auction in the mid 1950s. There is also a good selection of jade to suit all budgets and tastes. Montblanc pen collectors will be keen to know about lot 927, a limited edition Einstein fountain pen which heads a good selection of other Montblancs, and collection of Dupont lighters then follows an 18ct gold cigarette case and two 14ct vestas. The collectables section also features single-owner collections of mechanical music, and of high-quality parasols and umbrellas to include many by Fox,. Co, variously with ceramic, ivory and silver handles. On a different them altogether, lot 1186 is a fascinating provenanced collection of pressed seaweed samples believed to have been collected by notable Victorian John Ruskin. The paintings section include a rare signed Picasso print, as well as works by Vincent Clare, David Bates and Obadiah Short. Concluding the sale we have 100 lots of clocks and furniture to include a tripod desk compendium probably by Thomas Cole for Howell James & Co., and a good quality carved mahogany sideboard stamped Lamb of Manchester. Totalling over 1400 lots, we hope that the sale features something for everyone.
