Belle Epoque

The June 8 auction showcases 19th and 20th century fine and decorative arts reflecting the opulence of the Belle Epoque. Extravagant furniture and decorations of the Louis XV and XVI revivals, Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras will be offered, as well as art glass, porcelain, silver, marble statues, bronzes, ivories, clocks, sconces, chandeliers, rugs and paintings. Featured in the sale will be French Art Deco furniture by such designers as Andre Arbus, Jules Leleu, Andre Sornay and Dominique, as well as a selection of Tiffany Studios lamps and accessories, including an 18-light Lily lamp (Lot 1511), a Lotus lamp (Lot 1495), an American Indian desk lamp (Lot 1517) and a Peacock table mirror (Lot 1512). Furniture highlights include a Louis XV style poudreuse by Francois Linke (Lot 1397), a Louis XV style lady’s writing desk by Paul Sormani (Lot 1440), and an Art Deco secretaire a abattant by Andre Arbus (Lot 1163). Highlighting the decorations are a pair of figural sconces by Henry Dasson, 1883 (Lot 1203) and an Empire style figural inkstand in the manner of Pierre-Philippe Thomire (lot 1319). Art Glass includes examples by Daum Nancy, Galle, Venini and Lalique, including a Coq de Jungle figure (Lot 1476). Among the American paintings are works by Raoul Maucherat de Longpre, Frank Russell Green, Robert Hartley Cameron, and Bernard Lamotte. Featured among the European artists are Wilhelm Alexander Meyerheim, Ludwig Dominik Kohrl, Alessandro Sani, Ferdinand de Braekeleer, I, Henry Campostosto, Jean-Jacques Berne-Bellecour, Emile Auguste Pinchart, Paul Emile Pissarro, and Constantine Kluge.
