The English Interior
This spring's The English Interior sale brings together all that we love about classic English style and its layered, well-lived-in look, whether it be in town or in the country. Included in the sale are furniture, fine art and decorative objects that span nearly three-hundred years of English and European design. Highlights include an unusual George III Crossbanded Mahogany Serpentine Commode attributed to John Cobb which bears a Frank Partridge ivorine trade label, a Regency Inlaid Calamander Games Table, a fine George III Giltwood Console Table with Marble Top and a Regency Faux Painted Specimen Marble, Mahogany and Parcel-Gilt Tilt Top Table from Mallet Antiques. Also included in the sale is a group of fine quality carpets and rugs including a large Persian Sultanabad, a Persian Tabriz from a notable Manhattan Estate, and a small group of 18th century framed needlework. Highlights in the Fine Art section include sporting paintings and prints, along with several handsome ancestral portraits. A curated selection of porcelain, silver and glass rounds out the sale, including a group of Lady Anne Gordon porcelain fruits and flowers from the Collection of Alexandra Stoddard , the interior designer and inspirational author, and a fine selection of Chinese Export Porcelain from the Collection of Daniel G. Farris, NYC.
