Welcome to our summer sale of coins and medals which features over 300 lots including hammered coinage, gold sovereigns, proof and specimen sets, coronation, sporting and military medals. Highlights include three Military medal groups (Lot 289, 291, 292) and an array of Naval medals. In particular a Victorian Naval General Service Medal with Navarino clasp awarded to John Davis whilst serving on HMS Asia (Lot 271), and an early nineteenth century Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, 1st type, awarded to William Wilson Yeoman of Storerooms (Lot 272). With the London 2012 Olympics just around the corner Fellows are proud to be offering a 1908 London Olympic Games participant?s medal by B. Mackennal for Vaughton (Lot 302). From a similar period and in keeping with the sporting theme a superb piece of footballing history in a collection of football medals dating from 1893 to 1911 awarded to Alexander Leake, an English professional footballer who won fi ve caps for his country and made 407 appearances in the Football League playing as a half-back for a number of teams including Small Heath, Aston Villa and Burnley (Lot 300).
