Advertising, Pottery & Historic Objects

Featuring the Jon Church Collection. Jon Church is well known and well regarded among all longtime Canadiana collectors. No item he relinquished came without his careful research: handwritten notes on paper, often fixed to or stuffed in the objects they pertained to. The collection includes a surprising cache of Canadian pottery, country store advertising, and historic objects - all fresh to the market. His pottery includes an Owen Sound pitcher, an Eby pie plate, a Skinner 3 Gallon ‘Tree of Life’ crock, and many more. Church’s collection also includes a rare Canadian Pacific Railroad vertical broadside, a Montreal, Ottawa and Georgian Bay Canal Company building plaque, and rare porcelain signs. Three early tin lithograph signs in this sale deserve mention: a Black Cat Shoe Dressing (Toronto), a Rexall Parker & Druggist (Owen Sound) sign, and a Frost’s Optometrist with applied spectacles (Orillia). The sale also features a rare ‘Pegasus’ locomotive toy by Ives, and a run of model steam engines from the collection of the late David James. This sale is packed with Canadiana of all kinds and is not to be missed!
