FINE ANCIENT ART - THE PRINCE COLLECTION

Apollo Art Auctions is proud to announce the ‘Fine Ancient Art & Jewellery – the Prince Collection’ auction taking place on the 15th of December. The auction will showcase a wide selection of Egyptian, Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Asian antiquities ranging from 40th century BC to 16th century AD. The sale will be held at our central London showroom, 63 – 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform, at 10.30 a.m. GMT. The wide range of antiquities are coming from the renowned Prince Collection. The lots hold distinguished provenances featuring names and institutions such as Jean-Paul Barbier Mueller (1930 – 2016), Robert Hatfield Ellsworth (1929 – 2014), Edith Bader Koller, W. Arnold Meijer, Kurt Flimm, A. Obrecht, Jacques H. Carre, Jean-Marie Talleux (1930-1995), the Khawam brothers and the Thalassic Collection. Highlights include lot 1, an Egyptian Amarna Period Sandstone Relief Depicting the Pharaoh Worshipping the God Aton who was the last known Egyptian Pharaoh to worship ancient Egyptian gods. Lot 3, a Rare Egyptian Granite Head of a Pharaoh, reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum. Lot 130, a matching Pair of Greek Gold Earrings with Vibrant Carnelian Dolphins and lot 273, a Rare Babylonian Terracotta Head of Marduk with Horned Tiara, he was known to be the god of creation and the patron god of the city of Babylon.
