Quinn?s Auction Galleries is proud to present our September 19th Fine and Decorative Arts Auction. Featuring a collection of items from the estate of Lieutenant General James R. Brown of the U.S. Air Force (1930-2015). Gen. Brown was commissioned in the Air Force as 2nd Lt. in 1953, retiring from the Air Force in 1988 at the rank of Lt. General and the vice commander of Tactical Air Command. He was a highly decorated command pilot with more than 5000 flying hours, including during the Vietnam War where he, on Dec. 7, 1975, led the last 388th F-4D aircraft from Vietnam to the United States. Gen. Brown?s military decorations include the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster. Some of the items from Gen. Brown?s estate includes his Beretta M9 service pistol, his GG-W-113 watch, his Dunrite flight helmet, and a painting by Chet" Engle of F-104 Starfighters presented to his Father-in-law U.S.A.F. Major General Von R. Shores (1912-2006).
Offering a fine selection of 20th century American landscapes and works from Brazilian artists, such as Jorge Franco and Benjamin Silva, and a collection of works by Arturo Souto Feijoo. Also featuring fine prints and woodblocks by Paul Jacoulet and a James Abbot McNeil Whistler etching.
A collection of Wedgwood Jasperware porcelain, Jugtown pottery, crystal and glass stemware and decanters, and sterling silver including Hans Hansen ?Vendome? service, Wallace ?Grande Baroque? service, and a Whiting Manf. Co. coffee and tea service.
Also a variety of antique furniture, including a Baroque style gilt bronze chandelier, a Louis XV style burlwood desk, a Pennsylvania Dutch tall case clock, a monumental gilt mantle mirror, and a Stickley walnut
