We have a number of stunning modern pieces including the striking Arts & Crafts style pedestal dish by Birmingham Guildsman A.E. Jones(1879-1954) (Lot 163), a statement piece for any collector. Our selection of eclectic tableware would be perfect for a summer garden party,imagine for example a suite of dessert dishes (149), a stylish Elkington & Co. tray (Lot 47) upon which you could serve drinks in solid silver goblets (Lots 114 & 153). Finally, from our Novelties section, there is a beautifully crafted silver mounted pepper, modelled as a pear and a perfect accompaniment for a summer spread (Lot 430). For the antique collector we have a number of beautifully ornate items for sale. The large George II salver is truly a one off with its ornate variation of detailing (Lot 5), and the eighteenth century coffee pot is indicative of the style of the period (Lot 14). The Alexander Macrae christening cup adds a touch of eccentricity to this usually traditional gift; the dragon shaped handle makes this a wonderfully mystical piece(Lot 25). Finally, we have a pair of silver plated open salts, hand wrought by the Duchess of Sutherland Cripples Guild (Lot 264). Founded in 1900 by Millicent, the Duchess of Sutherland, the guild was designed to provide a positive space for the children crippled whilst working in the Staffordshire Potteries. The Guild produced pieces of metalwork, becoming so successful that they opened a London showroom from which to sell their pieces.
