Art + Design brings together an eclectic mix of furniture, fine art, and objects from the 20th and 21st centuries, reflecting the way we live today - where rustic meets refined, and classic blends with contemporary. Anchoring the sale is Property from the Collection of Barbara Jakobson. A champion of artists and designers, Barabara Jakobson's singular style and curatorial eye helped create an ever-evolving collection that Jakobson lived with in her Upper East Side townhouse for more than six decades. A long-time trustee of The Museum of Modern Art, Jakobson helped cultivate careers and forged friendships with artists, dealers and curators, acquiring works by living artists , all chosen with a purpose and a specific aesthetic sensibility. Following very successful sales at Christie's in February, we are pleased to offer contemporary art, books, objects, jewelry and furniture from the collection of one of the New York art world's boldest collectors whose legacy is her creative approach to collecting and living with art and design. Additional highlights include a selection of Louis Vuitton Suitcases and Trunks, Glass by Lalique, Designs by Karl Springer, and Furniture by Gilbert Rhode, Paul McCobb and Willy Rizzo.
